I did a quick forum search for this feature, and didn't find anything specifically regarding this, so maybe it hasn't come up previously. I was wondering if it would be possible to implement a feature that would make it possible to switch individual monitor desktop in a multi-monitor setup (in the likeness of OSX VD)?

Yes, this would be a nice feature. Unfortunately, adding it at this point would require too much major re-engineering.
