I hate Windows 10 Native Virtual Desktops

Postby HateWin10Virtual » 20.10.2020 16:37:05

Ever since a recent Windows 10 update, Dexpot is no longer an option for me. After I switch desktops, the window becomes a 'ghost' and I have to click off of the window to make it work again. I've been putting up with all the incompatibilities and glitches up to this point, but this one is too much. I'm looking for alternatives or thinking about biting the bullet finally and just using native virtual desktops.

Anyways, am I the only one is completely unsatisfied with the native Windows 10 desktops? Why couldn't they just create something nearly flexible and powerful as Dexpot. Dexpot has made my life so much easier over the years. I tailored by config file to be exactly how I want it. Most importantly, I'm able to switch to any desktop instantly without having to 'scroll' through them all.

I really wish Dexpot would release an update for Windows 10, I would honestly be willing to pay a lot of money for it since Microsoft can't seem to get the job done properly.

Yes, the Win 10 virtual desktops is pitiful , compared to Dexpot.

That said, I have been using Dexpot with great success under Win10 , with only a few issues.

I'm running Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363, not updated to the newer Win 10 yet, but get all the updates.

You should be able to use Dexpot under Win 10 .

@HateWin10Virtual: you may consider not touching the Win 10 Virtual desktop completely? That is, to keep only one "virutal" desktop in your Win 10.

In my case, Dexpot 1.6.14 Pro, Build 2439 runs well on all my Win 10 machines. To give an example, here is the build info on one of them:
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H1
Installed on ‎5/‎29/‎2021
OS build 19043.1083
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0

I never used the virtual desktop feature from Win 10. It falls dwarf to Dexpot in all ways (no CLI, for example).
